Changing the circle in the river – it is interesting

Our trip Warsaw – Irkutsk – Tokyo was a nice test for tires. The cars were equipped with GoodYear Wrangler AT / SA tires. The tires worked perfectly in the terrain and on the asphalt they were extremely quiet which delighted us immensely. A serious field test was Toyota’s test track in Japan, but about it in the next blog …

In the section between Khabarovsk and Vladivostok, we had an adventure.

It could lead to the elimination of one of Toyota’s from further travel. After driving a few hundred kilometers, we left the main road in search of a village with a shop where we wanted to buy the missing products for lunch and dinner. We got to the store in a pretty big village and after shopping we started looking for a place to stay.
After covering about 50 km, we found a river with a shore, from which it was easy to go down a wide trough made of small stones. The river flowed in its center and its low state lulled our vigilance a little and we did not see any elements of crossing or even terrain in this water. We drove along the river on small stones looking for a greater “flattening” of the area to break up the camp. We drove to the place where the river turned left and its trough in this place was filled from shore to shore with water. Tired of a long ride, we dreamed of lighting a fire, bathing and sleeping. We decided that we would go to the other side and stay there for the night. The current of the river was so calm that nobody wanted to get out of the car and see what could wait for us.

It turned out to be a school mistake …

The first one went Black.

She slowly sank into the water but she kept going forward. It started to swing it sideways and the bottom became more and more unpredictable. She reached the place where the water reached almost half of the door and we saw already that belaying would be needed to reach the other shore. The CB went on to let the Black crew wait where they stopped and the Golden River started a completely different path, which seemed to be milder. Until now, it is not known how it happened but suddenly the car dived deeply and immediately mainstreamed the car. It got very nervous. Szymon, who was in charge of this Toja, wanted to free himself from the strong current of the river as soon as possible, so he pressed the gas into the floor to get to the shore at all costs. At some point, the car tilted so that it was almost certain that it would fall sideways. When the wheels caught the grip and the car with full power moved towards the shore there was no question of avoiding anything. The car hit even bigger boulders with impetus. We could hear a bang and we already knew that Zlota had been seriously hit. In the middle sat our Chef, who is very sensitive to such adventures, so his face was priceless …. Have green with fear. As we say it … he had “full armor”.
The first inspection was very disturbing.

The first inspection was very disturbing.

The bolts were tightly tightened and after this route a bit of burning. The keys were bent so the help came from our favorite Hilti – a cordless pneumatic wrench. After a while, all the screws were already loosened, but another problem appeared. Our new bar lifts in this area were completely unsuccessful (they were too high) but digging the right hole did the trick. Anyway, we already know that for the next trip we’re making steel covers for the thresholds and we’re taking a decent hilift
The next morning we went on our way, enjoying our gold Toyota driving with us despite the broken bridge casing, the damaged fuel tank and the steering system.
